Berry Banana Breakfast Smoothie
Some mornings we just don’t be that hungry, its normal to not want food first thing in the morning. But what isn’t ok is to not have anything because it can actually lead to over eating later in the day. Generally speaking we think that if we skip breakfast that it will help us save calories in our efforts for weight loss but what it can actually lead to is poor, unhealthy choices later on. A smoothie like this is super quick and easy to make and is great to take with you to have it later on that morning!
Smoothie Recipe
1 Scoop of whey protein (or you can leave this out or replace with a vegan protein)
1/2 of a small banana 1/2 cup of frozen or fresh berries (any berries will work, I’ve used blueberries for today) 1/2 cup of dry gluten free oats 1 tbsp natural peanut butter water
Stick in the blender and blitz until smooth.
This smoothie recipe has everything you need for a great healthy and balanced meal, you’ve got your protein from the whey, carbs from the oats and fruits and healthy fats from the natural peanut butter.
The thing I love about this recipe is it is fantastic for a post training meal.
You can make changes to this recipe, you can add some fibre (flaxseed) and you can even add some greens (spinach), replace the kind of fruit if berries or banana’s aren’t your thing.
Let me know if you give this recipe a try, and what you think. Maybe you have some recipes of your own – I’d love to hear about them…
