Did You Know That Stretching Has A Positive Impact on Digestion?
Ever feel you have issues properly digesting after a meal? This can make you super uncomfortable and can potentially ruin your day or even your nights sleep. Maybe you have noticed you get bloated after certain types of foods but you don't have particular sensitivity towards that food. Well, here is where doing some gentle stretches can really help.
Today there is more and more research being done on the guts connection to the brain, meaning that when one is out of balance the other may be too, similarly when one is at peace so is the other. So the gentle stretching, along with controlled breath can really calm the mind and have a positive impact on your gut. Not to mention the increased blood flow will help move things along.
Take some time to introduce some gentle yoga poses like legs up the wall, this can help you greatly if you are feeling bloated or gassy or if you simply want to rest and digest your food.
Seated twist is another great move, and it is as simple as it sounds. The twist itself gently squeeze the organs, pushing blood away from the core and allowing it to return once you come out of the stretch. This move also helps ease bloat and offers a gentle massage to the GI tract.
Generally speaking yoga is a fantastic all-rounder but is especially useful when it comes to calming the body and the mind. This is why it's so beneficial for digestion. The poses here are only 2 of what I'm sure are many many more. Be sure to look up some on YouTube if you think adding this to your day/routine would be helpful for you.
I am not an expert in yoga, I do however add some yoga in when I feel my digestion is a little off.
